MCJ 2021 - Kansas City, MO

KC image.png
I'd like to point out a miraculous blessing once confirmed and that is it appears we were able to stage the reunion of over two hundred people and thankfully no one got sick as far as we know. Amid a pandemic, that is a wonderful success story and we'd be remiss if we did not say thank you Lord for looking over us, amen. It appears we were able to have a large gathering and do it safely enough that no one gets sick as far as we know. Amid a pandemic, that is a wonderful success story and we'd be remiss if we did not say thank you Lord for looking over us, amen.

Thank You

Unsung Heros

CE12CDE1-.jpg

I just have to recognize a few folks who stepped up and went above and beyond.

First on that list is my baby brother TC. - TC singlehandedly raised over $1,000.00 for the MCJ Scholarship.

Marquel saunters up representing the DMV and delivers a knockout punch with a winning total that left everyone speechless. I'll give the amounts in the wrap-up later but it was well over $900.00

I'd like to give huge kudos to Ms. Latonya (Tonya) Renee Greene soon to be Tonya Collins. Tonya conceived and executed a concept called club 3891 converted from the garage to a late night Karaoke club.

Also, did you notice the MCJ banner, the place settings, the cards and materials in the gift bags? All of these items were skillfully designed and produced by my better half, the talented and ultra organized Ms. Dawn Collins.

Our transportation committee Malcolm and Charles did an incredible job going above and beyond getting people from and to the airport and other places and on executing the Barbeque picnic.

Lee did his usual excellent job on the tee shirts. Not only designing, promoting and selling the shirts but doing his best to make sure everyone got what they needed.

Cee Cee, Tim, Rita, Mary, Carlos, Janice, Briana, in fact, all of our supporting cast made significant contributions.

While I'm mentioning just a few who stood out, this was a total team effort and I want to recognize anyone else I haven't mentioned thus far. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Wrap up

Headcount Totals:  000

Revenues from dues (9,060.00) fell short of the cost to stage the reunion (10,219.75) by $1,159.75.

While that's disappointing, we more than offset the difference thru fundraising so overall this year's reunion had positive cash flow.

Itinerary

  1. Meet and Greet – The turnout was about 20% larger than expected. We loved seeing all the faces both expected and unexpected. However, because we had more people than anticipated, we ran out of food. We prefer folks to pay dues in advance to let us know they are coming. Please make sure to let the hosts know that you are coming so they can plan accordingly.

  1. Picnic – Held at Swope Park from 1pm – 5pm – van transport provided, if needed.

  2. Banquet – Held at Fireman’s Hall  from 1pm – 6pm – van transport provided, if needed.`~

  3. Tee-Shirts – Please see Lee Collins for T-Shirts and other reunion regalia

  4. Sunday Morning Service – In lieu of Sunday Morning Church Service, Lee and Mary Collins with be leading a bible study at 9am on Sunday. The foundation verse is Psalms 1:1-3 and the lesson is titled “The Blessed Man/Woman”

  5. Banquet Activities

  6. TeeCee discussed the many opportunities to help fundraise and also win some cool prizes. This includes the 50/50 Raffle and Lets Make A Deal using family trivia.
